Taranui Charters - Fish or Cruise

MV Taranui | Skipper | Charter Rates | Contact

The MV Taranui out of Tairua Harbour, NEW ZEALAND Come aboard the MV Taranui and cruise the Coromandel East Coast and offshore islands.

Whether it's diving, fishing, or just a quiet sightseeing cruise, Jim Hope can guide you along some of the most picturesque coastline to be found in New Zealand.

And if "hunting and gathering" is more your scene, then Jim can put you right on the spot. It is then up to you to take in some of the region's best seafood on offer - crayfish, scallops (in season), and a wide variety of fish species that look pretty good either on a plate or as a trophy! PADI Dive courses are available by prior arrangement.

MV Taranui is available for Staff functions / Team building, Educational Trips, BBQ's, etc. We can cater for day trips, overnights, and extended durations by arrangement.

The MV Taranui is surveyed to carry 19 passengers on a Day Trip and can sleep 10 (8 + 2 crew) overnight. Cruising at 12 knots allows passengers to relax and enoy the trip, and move around the vessel with comfort and safety.

Skipper Jim Hope and trophy! Facilities include on board compressor (for dive tanks), fridge & cool store, gas cooking facilities, and head (toilet). Jim utilises a GPS/Sounder for navigation as well as a wealth of local knowledge.

There is ample room on deck for divers to gear up and plenty of shelter should the weather not be as agreeable as the surroundings. Rods and bait can be supplied for those without gear still wishing to fish. There is also plenty of room up on the flying bridge to get a raised perspective of the senic beauty that is the Coromandel Coast.

The skipper of the MV Taranui is Jim Hope. What Jim doesn't know about the Coromandel Coast probably hasn't been verified yet! Jim is approachable, but a word of caution - watch out for that wicked sense of humour!!

Having been a Primary School Principal in an earlier life, Jim decided that life on the ocean's wave was probably more his style, and there's no better place to base himself than out of Tairua Harbour. He is fully qualified and his wealth of local knowledge is invaluable in making a great days outing.

Need a challenge?? Think of a topic that Jim hasn't got a funny story for!!
